The Carousel Motor Group hired RJM Construction to build a new Ferrari car dealership in Golden Valley, set to open sometime in July. This showroom is one of just 45 in the U.S., and the only one in the Upper Midwest. The 15,000 sf project involved a building remodel of both the exterior and interior of Carousel’s former Porsche dealership. The new design accommodates Ferrari’s “global iconic brand” and will provide space for its customers who can purchase custom made-to-order new vehicles as well as pre-owned models.
The construction project scope included a complete gut and remodel of the interior, installation of a new roofing system, re-skin with new exterior metal panels, and painting of the existing precast. Architects Baker & Associates worked directly with Ferrari’s design team in Italy. All furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E), tile, and wood flooring were manufactured and shipped from Italy. Unique features include the Barrisol fabric ceiling, projecting a uniform backlit diffusion of light. The team also worked on the car lift and vehicle tread reader in the service drive.
While supply chain delays due to COVID-19 impacted the procurement of materials from Italy, the project team maintained close and frequent communication with the suppliers and subcontractors to ensure that installations aligned with the schedule and completion due date.
