MINNEAPOLIS (July 31, 2015) — The YMCA of the Greater Twin Cities celebrated breaking ground for its new facility in Forest Lake on Tuesday, July 28. RJM Construction was selected by the YMCA as the construction manager on the 53,000 square-foot project earlier this year.
City of Forest Lake Mayor Stev Stegner along with other community leaders and Y members, participated in recognizing the construction of the new facility to serve members and residents. The Y will act as a partner in the community by offering innovative programs to help the children, teens, adults, families and active older adults of Forest Lake learn, grow and thrive.
Located at 19845 Forest Road North, the Forest Lake Y is scheduled to open in the summer of 2016. The facility will feature:
- Expansive fitness center including space for cardio equipment and training
- Multiple studios that meet the ever-changing needs of fitness classes
- Dividable community room to accommodate a variety of programs
- Attractive aquatic center including a leisure pool, lap pool and on-deck sauna and whirlpool
- Outdoor splash pad with spray and splash features
- Walking track and gymnasium
- Outdoor playground and an indoor play maze
RJM Construction has built ten projects for the YMCA over the last ten years, including facilities in Elk River, Andover and Prior Lake.
In addition to RJM, the project team includes building architect LSE Architects and landscape architect Damon Farber Associates. The engineering team includes Pierce Pini & Assoicates, Clark Engineering, Karges-Faulconbridge, and Aquatic Design Solutions.
