MINNEAPOLIS (Feb. 6, 2014) — RJM Construction, a Minneapolis-based general contractor, recently began building renovations at RBC Plaza, located in downtown Minneapolis. Owned by KBS REIT III and operated by KBS Capital Advisors, advisor to the REIT, the RBC Plaza renovations include to not only the office tower, but the retail common space (formerly known as Gaviidae Common II).
Elevator modernization, exterior remodeling and finish upgrades are all part of the high-profile project. “The RBC project requires a contractor that specializes in both exterior and structural construction, as well as interior renovations, within the downtown central business district,” said Mitch Weaver, vice president. “While most contractors work predominantly in only one of these areas, RJM is a market leader in both.”
Scheduled to be complete in third quarter 2014, the construction project is lead by RJM Construction with Mitch Weaver as project principal. Shea Design, under the direction of Tanya Spaulding, serves as the project architects. Cushman & Wakefied/NorthMarq’s Theresa Elveru, general manager, is managing the renovation project on behalf of KBS with assistance from Michael Shields, project manager, and Tom Smith, construction representation.
