GOLDEN VALLEY (June 24, 2019) — RJM Construction, a Minnesota-based general contractor, has hired James M. Lockhart as General Counsel and Vice President, Risk Management. For the past 20 years, Lockhart has represented RJM as its construction attorney, most recently as a partner in the law firm Ballard Spahr, LLP. In addition to serving as RJM’s General Counsel, in his new role Lockhart will develop and administer proactive risk management programs.
“As RJM continues to grow, so does our need for increased risk management,” stated Brian Recker, President, RJM Construction. “Jim’s extensive legal expertise will be a valuable resource to the team and clients, providing advice in challenging project situations.”
Lockhart will join RJM on July 1, after transitioning his other clients to collegues at Ballard. Lockhart noted that “I am excited about the opportunity to add increased value to RJM and its clients on a full-time basis as RJM’s General Counsel, while continuing to work with lawyers at Ballard serving as outside counsel to RJM.”
Lockhart received his undergraduate degree from St. Olaf College in 1982 and earned his Juris Doctorate, Cum Laude, from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1986. He is a member of the Hennepin County Bar Association, Minnesota Bar Association (Construction Law Section), and American Bar Association (Construction Forum). Lockhart has been named The Best Lawyers in America, antitrust law, antitrust litigation, in 2017-2019, and Minnesota Super Lawyers, 2014-2018.
