Safety efforts at RJM Construction receive recognition

June 20, 2016

LECET Award PhotoMINNEAPOLIS (June 20, 2016) — RJM Construction, a Minneapolis-based general contractor, has recently received three notable industry awards in recognition of their safety program.

The Minnesota Laborers – Employers Cooperation & Education Trust (LECET) recognized RJM, along with 35 other organizations, with their safety Award of Excellence. Areas for evaluation included improving documentation, making safety equipment or procedural improvements, hosting dedicated safety meetings, sharing best practices and more.

Mark Ryan, Minnesota LECET Chairman stated, “It is clear that the contractors represented here are going above and beyond the call of duty to make safety really matter within their organization. We want to do all we can as industry leaders to make the construction industry a great industry for those next generation career workers and future skilled Laborers.”

Since 1934, the annual Governor’s Safety Awards program has honored Minnesota employers with exceptional safety performance. Applicants are judged on several years of injury data as it compares with their industry’s national statistics, and on their progress in implementing a comprehensive safety program.

“Employers like RJM Construction know that safety isn’t automatic,” said Paul Aasen, president of the Minnesota Safety Council. “It takes attention, dedication and continuous effort to protect their employees.”

For the second consecutive year, RJM has been recognized by the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry and AGC of Minnesota as a Construction Health and Safety Excellence (CHASE) partner. The CHASE partnership charter acknowledges the importance of providing a safe, healthful work environment in construction and seeks a working relationship that creates mutual trust and respect among all parties, including project owners and construction workers, involved in the construction process.

In a letter congratulating the organization, Nancy Zentgraf, MNOSHA Partnership Director, stated, “This indicates a strong desire to work within your organization to improve overall safety and health. It is this type of dedication toward safety and health which will make your organization strong and successful.”
