The V3 Center recently achieved a significant milestone by obtaining its Temporary Certificate of Occupancy, signifying a crucial step in delivering state-of-the-art aquatic and fitness facilities to the North Minneapolis community. Scheduled to open to the public in late spring, with a grand celebration planned for June, the V3 Center is set to play a pivotal role in shaping the well-being and future of the community it serves.
This achievement is the result of a collaborative effort between RJM Construction, TRI-Construction, LSE Architects, and V3 Sports bringing the vision of the $25 million aquatics and fitness center to life.
Established in 2007, V3 Sports is dedicated to enhancing swimming access for children of color, and this commitment has materialized in the form of an impressive 40,000-square-foot facility. The V3 Center incorporates a 50-meter pool from the 2021 Olympic swim trials, a 25-meter training pool, and designated spaces for running, walking, and biking. Additionally, the facility features wellness-related retail, community gathering areas, and a restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, and providing commercial catering.
The V3 Center addresses a significant gap in community amenities on the North Side, aspiring to become a regional destination. The second phase, nearly four times larger than the first. The three-story facility will overlook the Minneapolis skyline and have an Olympic-sized pool that was used for the U.S. Olympic trials in Omaha in 2021 and later transported to Minneapolis. It will have room for 1,000 spectators. The building also will feature an indoor track, outdoor deck, event spaces and four courts to host basketball games and other events.
