Five well-deserving RJM project engineers promoted to project managers

November 14, 2022

Congratulations to Aaron Hooyer, Sarah Schulz, Juan Lopez, Jack Benson, and AJ Chappuis on their promotions to project managers!

Aaron Hooyer has been a great asset to RJM since joining the team in January of 2021 and has stepped up to assist with projects when needed.  He was an integral part of the teams for the New Ulm Recreation Center and Plymouth Fire Station projects and recently started to take on project manager duties on projects such as the Hill Murray School Remodel.  He is now going to be the primary project manager on the Bremer St. Louis Park project and we are excited to see his continued growth.

Sarah Schulz has been with RJM for nearly two years, where she started as a project engineer. While working on various projects in the multi-family and education markets, Sarah also found a great niche working in the healthcare market and has been working on Twin Cities Orthopedics, Minnesota Community Care, Park Nicollet, and Methodist Health projects, both as project manager and as a project engineer.  She’s been a huge asset and has always been willing to jump in and utilize her previous construction knowledge to advance quickly within RJM.

Juan Lopez joined RJM nearly two years ago after working multiple years as a project engineer at a previous company.  Juan’s abilities were quickly recognized. Juan jumped into the middle of the Plymouth Community Center project and has continued to help Tim Ryan see the completion of the project.  Juan has been working with Sam Sheehan on the Bhatti GI project as a project engineer and has taken primary project manager responsibilities on other projects.  He’s always willing to ask questions, jump into challenging projects, and does it with a smile on his face.

Jack Benson joined RJM in 2021 and started working immediately with Sam Sheehan on Carousel projects like Audi and Twin Cities Performance Ferrari.  Under Sam’s mentorship, Jack quickly started taking on more and more complex issues up to running small projects for the Carousel Motor Group.  Jack will do whatever it takes to get the job done and always comes to the office willing to give a helping hand.  He’s been able to pick up on details and RJM’s processes extremely quickly, making him a huge asset to any team that he’s on.  In addition to the Carousel Motor Group projects that he’s been on, Jack has most recently been working on the North Metro Range project in Maple Grove.

AJ Chappuis came back to Minnesota in 2021 to work for RJM after working for a general contractor in Hawaii.  AJ came in with some great experience working on a big project and quickly was able to jump in on the MBC project with little background and manage a government historical project that came with a lot of changes. After the MBC projects, AJ has been assisting as a project engineer on the Animal Emergency & Referral Center and Southwest Christian High School Fieldhouse Expansion projects. He also jumped in late in the game on the Elk River Municipal Utilities project to assist Justin Rice from the project manager side of things.
